"Moreover, by a pillar of cloud You led them by day, and by a pillar of fire by night to light the way they should go." Nehemiah 9:12
Pillar of Fire Churches International is an ordaining body granting ministerial credentials to those called to the ministry and preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. It believes that the Holy Bible is our complete source of faith and practice for Christian ministry; and it subscribes to the creeds and doctrines of the Christian church which were founded and established in New Testament teachings and given to the church by the Apostles, under the direction of the Holy Spirit.
Pillar of Fire Churches International believes and emphasizes Christ as Saviour and coming King. The Bible presents and teaches Christ as Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit; and that speaking in tongues, is evidenced when Christ baptizes a believer in the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6)
Pillar of Fire Churches International recognizes other ministries associated with it and considers these as independent entities which are self governing. This ordaining body has not come out of another denomination nor is it "just another denomination" but it is a "body of believers" which has agreed to work together in a spirit of cooperation and unity to promote the great commisssion which is to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in every nation, to serve one another, to serve the body of Christ and to serve the world at large.
Pillar of Fire Churches International further supports and maintains a high commitment to religious freedom, unity in the body of Christ, and the priesthood of all believers.
History
In early 2010, the founders of Pillar of Fire Churches International, Pastor Helen Head and Pastor Walter Head, informally discussed their desire to form a denomination in Canada which better suited their ministry calling and that of the many others seeking credentials in Canada and internationally. Many times of prayer and intercessory prayer were offered until confirmation came. This continued until a vision was cast and efforts began immediately to establish the denomination which is intended to be a ministry/fellowship.
On November 2, 2010 they first met together in a formal meeting to lay the framework for this denomination. This process was set in motion, blessed by the Lord and directed by the Holy Spirit continuing until it was finalized August 17, 2012.
A number of meetings were held and in the process of time two additional persons joined the unofficial board to begin the discussions on this ministry. They agreed to work with us as we began to lay the foundation for Pillar of Fire Churches International. Over the ensuing year two additional board members were added. Their election and appointment were ratified at the first General Conference of the membership which was held on January 12,2012.
An application to file and register as a charity was made on August 31, 2011. Pillar of Fire Churches International was recognized by Canada Revenue Agency as a charitable religious organization officially on November 16, 2011.
Simultaneously an application was filed together with a Constitution and By-Law, to register Pillar of Fire Churches International as a not-for-profit federally incorporated organization operating within Canada within all provinces and territories. Letters Patent were filed on August 31, 2011 with approval of the Letters Patent received on September 6, 2011.
An application to register the not-for-profit corporation in Ontario was also made to meet the provincial
requirements for non-profit corporations operating in Ontario. On December 15, 2011 the Province of Ontario granted a certificate of incorporation for Pillar of Fire Churches International.
On May 10, 2012 an application to register as a denomination was filed with the Office of the Registrar General for the Province of Ontario, and with the blessings of the Lord, Pillar of Fire Churches International was recognized as a denomination officially on August 17, 2012.
As a result of changes in the Canada Not-For-Profit Corporations Act S.C. 2009, c.23 a revision of the General Constitution and By-laws was required to comply with the changes in "The Act" and an application made to Corporations Canada, Industry Canada to register Articles of Continuance was prepared and filed on August 8, 2012, which were subsequently granted August 10, 2012.
During this process the General Constitution and By-Laws of Pillar of Fire Churches International were
prepared, and approved at the first Annual General Conference held January 12, 2012. An Ordained Minister's Service Manual, and a Licensed Minister's Service Manual were prepared for use by Ordained and Licensed Ministers. A Policy Manual was also prepared and serves as a tool and guide for the General Executive Board in dealing with administrative and membership matters.
During the early months of 2012 two new members were called into ministry as an Ordained Minister and a Licensed Minister, having been appointed and ordained in Haiti, West Indies.
We are recognized in the Provinces of Ontario and New Brunswick as a denomination authorized to perform marriages.
